Merry SUNday! Butterfly Garden Wisdom card - Pick of the Week. *Milkweed Seeds* Appropriate draw for the first day of Spring! :-) "Oh the possibilities! Seeds are divine sparks of potential and the time is ripe to sow dreams, aspirations and desires. Milkweed seeds are attached to white, fluffy-silk that can be likened to Spirit carrying and supporting our seeds. Do you have any seeds in mind, or maybe you need to update your seed collection? Is there a place or space to sow these dreams and desires in the soul-garden of your life? Adjustments may be in order. Pull any weeds that may obstruct your growth, and address any “plants” that have been previously seeded, for they may no longer serve a purpose in your life." -Excerpts from Butterfly Garden Wisdom card-deck - Dancing in the Fields guidebook. |

Creating with some live butterfly centerpiece ideas for my Tea and intuition soirées, but picturing these also as a unique 'Observe and Release' for special occasions. The wedding party or guest-of-honor table, for example. Working with what I have on hand for now. It's 12/12, my Solar-return (...my birthday)! This Monarch emerged this morning and we've collected roughly 60 caterpillars from the habitats this week, there's quite a few small cats and many eggs remaining on the leaves in the gardens. This is unseasonably odd to have this much activity in December ...even for Florida, but I'm gratefully honored for the experience and support these beauties.
Honestly, she is the most raggedy Monarch I've seen, to date. This Monarch has been hanging around for the past week. Yesterday my daughter and I noticed that she was laying eggs. She is one of the more friendly, wild Monarchs we've had in a while. She flew very close to us, almost landing on my daughter's head a few times. She haphazardly, but happily danced in between us so close, we could hear her wings rapidly fluttering. We realized she's working harder because her wings are so ragged and she appeared to be resting often. What really impresses me is that she flies around as if completely oblivious of her torn and tatteredness. Uninhibited by her physical frailty - Her spirit is strong and open. Jovial she is! :-)
As a female laying eggs, they can be quite protective about us being in their space. Physically speaking, she'd be considered vulnerable due to the condition of her wings, but she let my daughter touch her wings while in the midst of laying her eggs. Not at all common for a fertile butterfly. These creatures never cease to teach and amaze me. I am grateful! :-) So, this morning we were heading out. I spotted a bright, red dragonfly in the yard and pointed it out to my daughter, Naomi. She was about to get in the car, then casually walks over to me and says; "Uhm mom, is there something in my hair?" I look up to see a dragonfly perched right on her barrette as if it were an embellishment.
I said, "there's a dragonfly in your hair!" She said, "Uh, could you get it out?” I began trying to shoo it out, but it was entangling itself in her strands. The more I tried to get it out the more enmeshed it became. It ended up holding on and dangling near her face on one strand of hair. I finally got it and it fell to the ground where we then discovered that from above its hind wings down, the body was missing. :-/ Not sure if a bird took a chunk of it or what. He seemed to have just "appeared". We were in a hurry so I put him in one of our habitats so the ants wouldn't eat what was left of him, alive. We came back 2 hours later and I figured he'd have passed-on. I went to remove him from the habitat and he was still alive, but very weak. Having done some research, we found that dragonflies like many other creatures, can regrow there bodies. However, too much of his body was gone and I knew his body wasn’t going to make it. A few of you that know me personally, know of my consistent interactions with dragonflies due to them having been my dad’s spirit-animal. Today a dragonfly (carrying my dad’s essence) showed up, much like the condition he was in when he passed (physically impaired and no longer able to adequately function). But the Presence of Spirit is never impaired by any seeming physical limitations. We can be witnesses to that if we're tuning in. To clarify, sometimes a dragonfly is just a dragonfly. Even though my dad always comes to mind when I see one, I don't always feel his essence along for the ride. :-) Even the slightest shift in our perspectives about what we may conclude to be “real” or “possible”, can make a world of difference in what we experience. There is no separation between the realms occupied by those who’ve passed-on and those of us still inhabiting physical bodies. It's just a change of the spaces we exist in. These spaces are always in communication and connected whether we are presently open to “see” and experience those opportunities of interconnections or not. Side note: Just last week I bought the supplies to add some hair accessories to my jewelry offerings. Thanks for letting me know you're watching, dad! ;-) 10/18/15 Milkweed is food source to Monarch caterpillars and also providing nectar for butterflies, bees, wasps, and ants. Milkweed’s genus name Asclepius, is derived from the Greek god of medicine and healing. The ancient symbol (modified today), representing the original ‘Rod of Asclepius’, is often used as a modern symbol in medical practices. This card summons you to recognize any untapped healer abilities you may possess. Keep in mind that the healing arts can be displayed and facilitated in many ways. Perhaps you have an exceptional ear for listening. Do not disregard the valuable healing effects this provides for others. There is much restorative power in what goes unspoken, by simply listening.
There may however be areas in which you yourself seek healing. Here, Milkweed encourages you tend to this, apply love, patience and self-compassion to these areas, as you would another. In order for true healing to take hold, all areas of your being must be addressed. The ultimate healing remedy is to remember and accept that you and all others are whole, body, mind and spirit. We are not broken. It is in remembering your wholeness that you heal yourself and thus support the healing of others. © Butterfly Gardens Wisdom Cards Bucket rescue of the day yesterday. This lizard was wading in my full, rain bucket. He had the listless look of, "this is it, I surrender". Lol. I reached my hand down to him, he weakly grabbed on and rested on my hand. I let him catch his breathe and relax until his heart rate slowed a bit. I moved my hand over to a branch, a plant and a rock...he would not budge. In fact, he repositioned himself to a more secure place on my hand. I let him stay a few more minutes and then told him he'd be okay. After that I lowered my hand on to the rim of a pot and nudged him onto it. He then jumped on around the Giant Milkweed.
